Skrenyi Festival of North East (16 Days / 15 Nights)
Northeast of India... the mystic region, is the most bio - diverse regions of the world. A home to the beautiful landscapes, ancient temples, rich culture, mystical tribes and an array of flora and fauna, all these and more is what the Northeast region of India has to offer. The tribes here celebrate smallest of the occasions in the most vibrant ways, with songs and dance and other colourful activities. Shangnyu village, is ruled by the chief Angh and is a prominent village in Mon district. There is a wonderful wooden monument measuring 8 feet in height and 12 feet in breadth - believed to be constructed by heavenly angles. Human beings and other creatures are carved on this monument. Memorial stones are also found in front of the Angh's Palace. History records that good and friendly relationship existed between the Shangnyu and the Ahom Kings of Assam. Shangnyu Angh use to collect taxes from all the villages under his domain-extending from Sibsagar in Assam to the Wanchos in Arunachal.After returning from Shangnyu village visit Mon Village, here too you can find tattooed Konyaks.Post lunch drive to Chui Village, situated about 8kms from the district headquarters of Mon. Chui village still retains its old world charm. One can see the Angh's mansion and other Houses constructed in the true Konyak tradition with palm leaves roofing and the main pillars jutting out. After Breakfast drive to Wokha (80km 4hrs drive). Wokha literally means census. There are villages on Hilltops, which at once attract your attention. There are monoliths (Longzu) erected by their rich ancestors to exhibit their status. Lothas are known for their colourful dances and songs particularly during the Shanta, Tokhu Emong and Pikhuchak which are their main festivals. The former takes place on the 7 November every year. Opvuram and Longpensu are the must buy treasured social shawls for women and men, respectively. Overnight at Wokha.

Full day attend the festival. Overnight at Tuphema.The Angami tribe celebrates the Sekrenyi Festival in the month of February. It normally falls on the 25th day of the Angami month "kezei". The ten-day festival is also called Phousanyi by the Angamis. Sekrenyi, the festival of the Angami Nagas, organized by Tuophema village, is a festival of purification and revolves around the rituals and ceremonies of clearing the village pond. It starts with all men, young and old going to the village pond, a night vigil is kept by the youths of the village. The best part of the festival is 'Thekra hie' on this day all the young men and women of the village sit together and sing traditional songs over mugs of rice and plates of meat.
