Birding In Assam & Meghalaya (9 Days / 8 Nights)
This birding tour takes you across some key sites in the floodplains of Brahmaputra in Assam before ascending into the hills of the neighboring state of Meghalaya. The north east part of India experiences a moderate climate that has proved conducive for a large diversity of birds as well as butterflies too.
Day 1: Dibrugarh - Tinsukia

Arrive Dibrugarh airport and drive to Tinsukia.Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 2: Tinsukia - Guijan
Tuesday, February 11, 2025 - Wednesday, February 12, 2025
Early morning breakfast and drive to Guijan (13 kms) and then on boat (country boat fitted motor). Nature trail on extensive grasslands along Dibru-Saikhowa river. Possibly to see Smokey Warbler, Paddyfield Warbler, Blackbreasted Parrotbill and Jerdon-s Babbler. Other attraction includes Black Storks, Asian Openbills, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Green Imperial Pigeons, Sand Larks etc.Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Guijan - Kaziranga

Drive to Kaziranga (275 kms / 7 hrs drive).Overnight stay at the Lodge.
Day 4: Kaziranga
Thursday, February 13, 2025 - Friday, February 14, 2025
Early morning after breakfast elephant safari Followed by two rounds of jeep safari.Overnight stay at Lodge.
Day 5: Kaziranga
Friday, February 14, 2025 - Saturday, February 15, 2025
Jeep safari to eastern range - this part of the Park is best for birding. Crested Serpent Eagle is common while Palla-s Eagle and Grey Headed Fishing Eagle are frequently seen. Others include Greater Adjutant Stork, Bar Headed Geese, Whistling Teal, Pelicans etc. With great luck one might see the endangered Bengal Floricans. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch jeep safari to either central or western range.Overnight stay at Jungle Lodge.
Day 6: Kaziranga - Shillong

Morning after breakfast Drive to Shillong (Meghalaya).Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7: Shillong
Sunday, February 16, 2025 - Monday, February 17, 2025
Early morning drive to Cherrapunjee (60 kms / 2 hrs drive). Cherrapunjee is supposed to be the wettest place on earth mainly between April and October. Possibly to observe the rarest Swifts of the world - the Dark Rumped Swift (normally from late February to end of April. Visit to nearby forest of Mawsmai cave for possible chance of seeing Babblers.Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 8: Shillong
Monday, February 17, 2025 - Tuesday, February 18, 2025
Early morning visit to football ground near the
Shillong peak (The path is quite overgrown, rough clothes recommended). They are apparantly few recent records of Tawny-breasted Wren Babbler. Grey Sibias, Russet Sparrows, Spotted Forktail, Mountain Bulbuls. Return to hotel for lunch. After lunch visit to old Guwahati Road to see Grey Sibias, Blue Throated Barbets, Orange Bellied Leafbirds, Scarlet Minivets, Bar Winged Flycatcher Shrikes, Large Woodshrikes, Chestnut-tailed Starlings, Green-backed Tits, Yellow-cheeked Tits, Black Bulbul, Rufescent Prinias, Buff-barred Warblers, Yellow-browed Warblers (commonest Warbler), Grey Hooded Warbler, Silver-eared Mesias, White-browed Shrike Babblers, Blue-winged Minlas, Straited Yuhinas and Fire-tailed Sunbirds can be observed.Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 9: Shillong - Guwahati

After early breakfast drive to Guwahati airport (130 kms / 3- hrs drive) to connect flight for onward destination.
