Robbers' Cave is an ideal place for picnic around 8 kms from the City. The last one-kilometer is to be trekked to reach this beautiful cave formed by a natural rift in a mountain. Through this flows a very cold stream of water. The darkness of the cave combined with the sound of the fast flowing stream gushing past the feet gives it an ideal touch.

22 kms short of Dehradun while approaching from Hardwar - Rishikesh is Lachiwala, a beautiful picnic spot. An extension of the Rajaji National Park, it is a serene and blissful area between tall Deodar forests with a running supply of water all year round.

Just 5 kms from Dehradun is Tapovan. As the name suggests, the place is famous for its beautiful surroundings, most ideal to chant auspicious hymns and meditate. Even today hermits can be seen in the area doing the penance to appease the Gods.

Enroute to Mussoorie on the foothills of the shivalik range is situated the beautiful mini - zoological park, the Malsi Deer park. Enveloped by beautiful, natural surroundings, along with the attractive environs, this place is famous with the locals as a cool picnic spot.
