Situated on the south eastern tip of the small state of Haryana, bordering the capital, Delhi, Faridabad has been an important town of Haryana.
Faridabad gets its name from the founder and the treasurer of the Mughal emperor Jehangir, Sheikh Farid. He Built a fort and a mosque in this town. The town developed into a refugee centre when after partition a large number of refugees from Pakistan came to India and settled here. Today it is one of the most upcoming and revenue generating towns of Haryana.
