The celebrated town of Avadh is situated on the banks of River Sarayu and is one of the most ancient of India. Around 135 kms from Lucknow, this place is believed to be the birth place of the epic hero of Ramayana, Lord Ram. There are many temples here and people throng this small town now to worship and pray Lord Ram. A decade back the town shot to limelight due to its communal riots. But the otherwise sleepy town of Ayodhya is busy with its daily routines and prayers and worshippers. No ruins or remnants of the era are found and it is believed that Lord Ram took along with him the whole of township when he ascended heaven.
