Description:
Bijapur was ruled by the Bahamani Sultans illustrious amongst whom was Adil Shah. The Gol Gumbaz is the tomb of Mohammed Adil Shah which he himself built before his death. The work took nearly 20 years to complete the massive structure. It is the second-largest tomb in the world. Nearly 44 mts in diameter the interior of the dome is mysteriously unsupported and has a whispering gallery under it. Any whisper or clap here gets echoed 9 times. Smallest of the sounds create a stereophonic effect in the tomb. A marvel that is rarely seen anywhere else.
