Description:
This 500 year old fort was built by Ahmed Nizam Shah in the 15th century and has witnessed many battles. The imposing structure is circular in shape and has 18m high wall reinforced with 22 bastions. There is a deep trench containing water surrounding the fort, which kept the enemy at bay. Located at a distance of 1-km to the east of Ahmednagar city, it was here that the British had imprisoned Jawaharlal Nehru and it was during this period in this jail that he wrote the Discovery of India.
