The Jumma Masjid is probably the oldest mosque in the city with an imposing structure of tall ornamented granite pillars adorning the elevated prayer hall. The St. Mary's Church is the only Church in the state of Karnataka which has been elevated to the status of Minor basilica. Built in the early 19th century, this is also one of the ancient churches of the state
